When Do You Drink Your Wine After Purchasing?

We’ve got to know – are you the kind of wine drinker who gets your Bright Cellars box in the mail and simply can’t wait to try that new, perfectly paired bottle? We know the feeling. Or are you more likely to hold onto your wines and save them for a special occasion?

We asked our Bright Cellars readers, “How soon do you drink your wine after purchasing?” and here are the responses.

  • 51.1% of respondents said it varies.
  • 23.2% of respondents said they drink their wine within 1-2 weeks.
  • 10.7% of respondents said within 2-3 days.
  • 8.2% of respondents prefer to save their wine for aging
  • 6.9% of respondents admitted they drink their wine within 24 hours.

How soon should you drink your wine? The truth is, there’s no magic formula, and it’s up to your preference. We will say, however, most bottles sold in grocery stores these days are not designed to be aged. No matter what you decide, make sure you’re storing your wine properly

We love that giddy feeling we get when our Bright Cellars box arrives on our doorstep, so we’re guilty of uncorking the fun the first chance we get, but we also encourage you to drink your wine when it feels right! That’s the beauty of Bright Cellars – you always have more wine on the horizon.

  1. It would be helpful if along with taster’s notes you indicated which wines should be consumed soon and which could be saved and aged.
