There have been many hyped products created to help you preserve that open bottle of wine. All of these products aim to do the same thing: to keep the oxygen in the air from spoiling your wine.
To get you started, here are 3 easy, but more importantly, free, tips that require no fancy gadgets to help keep your wine fresher for longer.
1. Store the wine sideways with the cork. Oxygen is the enemy. When your bottle is stored upright, it comes in contact with the air more. But when the wine bottle is sideways, the liquid comes in contact with the cork, blocking the air from seeping through the cork’s cracks. #WineWin
2. Put the wine in the fridge (yes, even reds). Don’t worry, you can always set your bottle out to warm when you’re ready to drink. And if you’re impatient like us, putting the bottle in room temperature water will warm it up faster!
3. Pour your wine into a smaller container. This can add a few days of life to your wine! The less air left in the container, the longer it will last. So find a container that you can fill up to right to the tippy top.
Bonus Tip: There’s always the option to just finish the bottle or share with a friend!
