Imagine - you’re about to order a glass of wine, but there’s just one problem. You have zero idea how to pronounce it.
What do you do? Do you put on your big person pants and pray to the wine gods you don’t butcher it? Or do you simply pick something else on the menu (with less accents and jumbled consonants?)
Perhaps you don’t feel the embarrassment that may come with mispronouncing wine words. Perhaps you let fear of getting a wine word wrong affect your choice of wine.
Whether you’re brazenly committing with confidence or completely avoiding wine words altogether, we’re here to help you say it right. Whatever “it” is.
We asked our Bright Cellars’ community, “Does mispronouncing wine words intimidate you?” and here are the results.
THE RESULTS
- 45.6% of respondents said, “Sometimes, but I'm fairly confident in my wine knowledge.”
- 39% of respondents said “Nope, I'd rather drink it than pronounce it anyway.”
- 9.5% of respondents admitted “Yes, if I can't say it, I won't order it.”
- 6% of respondents said, “There's a wrong way?”

Wow, we’re so proud of you guys! Turns out you guys are pretty confident in your ability to pronounce even the toughest of wine words. Or, better yet, you’re not embarrassed to get them wrong. That’s pretty much the point of Bright Cellars - we’re democratizing the wine world one box at a time and making wine accessible to everyone. You don’t need fancy glasses, certifications, or a supertaster palate to enjoy wine. You just need wine!
