It’s our pleasure to introduce our newest red wine - the Mise En Abyme red blend. This Bordeaux-style red with notes of red fruits, dried herbs, and earthy aromas will have you drinking wine like the French in no time.
Behind this old-world wine lies the story of its origin, and the secret gems of a little hidden corner in France.
Mise En Abyme Wines
There’s a story to uncover in every bottle. The French phrase “mise en abyme” eloquently translates to “a story within a story.”
Our Mise En Abyme wines tell the history of the grapes that made them - how sunny it was that year, the quality of the soil, the amount of rain that fell.
Each sip is like storytelling, taking you back to the place where it all started - breathtaking France.
Mise En Abyme Red Blend
A classic example of an old-world wine, our Mise En Abyme French red is a Bordeaux-style blend with medium body, powerful acidity, and grippy tannins. You’ll notice notes of red fruits such as raspberry and pomegranate, plus dried herbs, and an earthy aroma.
Our Mise En Abyme red blend consists of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes - the three most commonly used grapes in traditional Bordeaux.
It flaunts an ABV of 14.3%, as Bordeaux-style blends tend to fall on the higher end of the spectrum.
“France’s Hidden Corner”
Though South West France is the 5th largest wine region in the country, it is the least known, making it home to many hidden treasures.
Affectionately called “France’s Hidden Corner,” this region is described as “rural, peaceful, and laid back” with rolling acres and populated by few people.
The name suits the area well, as its location is tucked away behind the Pyrénées Mountains, with Spain to the south, Bordeaux to the north, and the Atlantic to the west.
Within this hidden corner, there are four subregions. Our Mise En Abyme red blend originated in Bergerac, located just south of Bordeaux.
We like to think of Bergerac as the younger brother of Bordeaux, producing wines of similar quality, style and varietal, but with a lower price tag.
As for climate, the conditions are similar due to the influence of the westernly Atlantic Ocean, but temperatures are a bit warmer than you might find in Bordeaux.
Bergerac’s bread and butter lies in the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Bordeaux blends, making it the perfect homeland for our Mise En Abyme red.
Pairings
Pair this deep red blend with steak or other red meat. Stick to salt and pepper, and keep the seasoning to a minimum to allow the flavors in the wine to really shine.
