Sometimes a glass of white wine is just what the “doctor” called for! So, what's your go-to white varietal? White wines come in a range of different varietals, colors, and bodies. While some whites can be very sweet, others are on the drier end. When we asked the Bright Cellars Team this question they were pretty confident that Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay would be going tête-à-tête.

The Results

Can you guess which white varietal came out on top? Here are the results:
  • 34.9% of respondents said their go-to white wine is Sauvignon Blanc.
  • 22.7% of respondents said their favorite white is Pinot Grigio.
  • 21.9% of respondents said their fav white wine is Chardonnay.
  • 14.5% of respondents said their go-to white is Riesling.
  • 6.1% of respondents said their favorite white wine is Muscat Blanc (Moscato).
It isn’t a surprise to us that so many love the herby green flavors of a Sauvignon Blanc! It really is a fantastic wine. Well, all of these wines are fantastic – but in different ways! Riesling is a great white wine, but many are turned off to the varietal because they think it is sweet. But that isn’t always the case! In fact, Riesling is a varietal that many Sommeliers take a fascination in because it can be either very sweet OR very dry! It all depends on how the winemaker produces the wine. So next time, try a Riesling that is labeled as “dry” you may end up falling in love with it! If you’re a red wine lover, there are some great white wine alternatives for you and vise versa! Don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone a little bit. We also asked out Bright Cellars Instagram followers this question and here are some of our favorite responses.
  • Chardonnay, all day!
  • Gruner Veltiner
  • Viognier!
  • Catarratto, which Bright Cellars introduced me to!
