What do plants, wine, and people have in common? They all thrive in the sun! There’s never been a better time to bring your wine outside and enjoy it surrounded by brightly colored beauties, courtesy of our friends at Bloomscape.

Here at Bright Cellars, we’re always looking for new ways to bring color to your life. As you watch your backyard bloom, pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine - or even better, your plant’s perfect wine counterpart. Check out our favorite summer wine and plant pairings. These colorful, yet-to-be-released wines are about to hit boxes!

Bromelia Aechmea pink x Dreamlet Sweet White

Bring the bright to your backyard with pops of pink and eccentric, tiger striped leaves. Much like our Dreamlet wines, Bloomscape’s pink Bromelia Aechmea is far out and straight out of dreamland (or maybe even a Dr. Seuss book.)

Pair this funky plant with our Dreamlet sweet white - a mind-bending wine with flavors of ripe stone fruits like apricot and peach, alongside floral notes of orange blossom and honeysuckle. The intense, vivid flavors will take your taste buds on a colorful trip of kaleidoscopic flavor.

Red Geranium x Folk & Fable Bourbon Barrel Zinfandel

With luscious red color that never seems to disappoint, we’ve paired the long-time classic red geranium with one of our flagship wines.

Every year we release a new vintage of our crowd-favorite Folk & Fable. Much like the annual red geranium, this wine gets better with age, and a bit of TLC.

Our Folk & Fable Zinfandel spends three months aging in Bourbon barrels, picking up notes of notes of stewed fruits, toasted caramel, and vanilla. This oak aging process takes an already jammy, spicy Zinfandel to another level with complex flavors simply waiting to be enjoyed.

Red and Yellow Dahlia x Gladiolus Riesling 2020

There’s no holding back a smile when you’re surrounded by this lush, whimsical Dahlia. Pair it with our Gladiolus Riesling, and you’ve got major sunset vibes.

Sweet and unassuming, this Riesling is beautifully balanced by bright acidity. One sip sends you cascading down a flavor stream of tangerine, lime, and peach flavors alongside aromatic, floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. Cue the sunshine!

Yellow Begonia x Sprig and Rose Dry White 2020

Much like it’s wine counterpart, the Yellow Begonia is light and clean yet bursting with color.

Our Sprig and Rose Dry White is crisp, dry, and overflowing with fruit flavors. It brings the yellow coloring of the Yellow Begonia alive with fruit flavors like lemon, apple, stone fruit, and a hint of tropical melon.

Monstera x Watchkeeper Sauvignon Blanc 2020

It doesn’t get more ‘plant parent’ than this. The Monstera is a classic for any loving home hoping to expand their plant collection.

We have a running theory that Sauv Blanc people are also plant people. Why’s that? If you love a good Sauvignon Blanc, you appreciate the green streak that accompanies each sip.

Fresh and fruity, this Watchkeeper white will leaf you wanting another sip. (Sorry, we had to!) In true Sauv Blanc fashion, this Yolo County white wine shows flavors of citrus, pineapple, and a hint of fresh green herbs.

Sansevieria Sayuri x Silverscape Syrah

Understated, bold, and a little moody, Bloomscape’s Sansevieria Sayuri is the perfect accent for a sophisticated sommelier.

But don’t let it fool you - when paired with our Silverscape Syrah, it’s anything but standoffish. This dark, rich Syrah is the perfect warm welcome. Inviting notes of blackberry, black currant, and plum draw you in, alongside savory black pepper and baking spices from oak influence.

Bloomscape’s Sansevieria Sayuri is the finishing touch to any living space. Add a bottle of Silverscape Syrah, and the invite’s always open.

Petunia Night Sky x Obscura Zinfandel 2016

With beautiful bouts of purple, a Petunia Night Sky is the perfect addition to your backyard retreat. The violet petals remind us of our full-bodied yet versatile Obscura Zinfandel.

If you guessed notes of boysenberry, you’d be right. This Zinfandel from California's Lodi region is full of ripe, jammy berry flavors like boysenberry, raspberry, and strawberry. With spicy black pepper notes and a hint of oak, it pairs perfectly with anything straight off the grill. Backyard BBQ, anyone?
