Your Wine Personality Based on Myers-Briggs

What's your wine personality? You should drink this wine based on your Myers Briggs! We're pairing personality types with our favorite wine.

Want to discover your wine taste profile?

Take our quick 7-question quiz to find wines that fit your taste profile and get them delivered to your door.

Free Wine Quiz Arrow

If you’ve ever taken the Myers-Briggs personality test, you know the results can be eye-opening (if not downright scary accurate.) Zodiac signs and personality quizzes like the Enneagram are great ways to get in tune with yourself and better understand your personality.

While the perfect wine personality test doesn’t exist (yet!), you can always take Bright Cellars’ palate quiz to help you narrow down which kind of wine you’ll like based on your flavor preferences.

In the meantime, we took the liberty of pairing all the Myers-Briggs personality test results with their perfect wine!

The Myers-Briggs Basics

The Myers-Briggs personality test generates 16 personality types based on the combinations of four deciding characteristics:

Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I)
Sensing (S) or Intuition (N)
Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
Judging (J) or Perceiving (P)

If you’ve yet to take the personality test, we suggest you do that first!

Myers-Briggs Wine Types

INFJ or ‘The Advocate’
INFP or ‘The Mediator’
ENFJ or ‘The Protagonist’
ENFP or ‘The Campaigner’
ISTJ or ‘The Logistician’
ISFJ or ‘The Defender’
ESTJ or ‘The Executive’
ESFJ or ‘The Consul’
ESTP or ‘The Entrepreneur’
ISTP or ‘The Virtuoso’
ISFP or ‘The Adventurer’
ESFP or ‘The Entertainer’
INTJ or ‘The Architect’
INTP or ‘The Logician’
ENTJ or ‘The Commander’
ENTP or ‘The Debater’

INFJ or ‘The Advocate”

According to Myers-Briggs, INFJs are quiet and mystical, yet very inspiring and tirelessly idealistic.

Pour yourself a glass of Zinfandel, a bold, jammy red that also flaunts smoky, exotic spice notes. To those unfamiliar, the wine descriptor ‘jammy’ may make you tilt your head. What does jammy even mean, anyway? Embrace those ripe, juicy fruit flavors and lean into the mystery of Zin.

INFP or ‘The Mediator’

Poetic, kind, and altruistic people who are always eager to help a good cause.

Your mediating nature makes you just like Pinot Noir, the world’s most popular light-bodied red wine. From red wine drinkers to white, you bring people together, help them find common ground, and bridge the gap.

Wine Personality Type Pinot Noir - Sophonisba Pinot Noir

Bright Cellars Sophonisba Pinot Noir

We recommend our Sophonisba Pinot Noir, a balanced red wine with soft tannins and red fruit flavors of raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and spice.

ENFJ or ‘The Protagonist’

Charismatic, inspiring leaders who are able to mesmerize their listeners.

You’re smooth like chocolate, just like Malbec. Like this rich, dark fruit flavored red with a smooth chocolatey finish, you intoxicate the people around you and always have them asking for another glass.

ENFP or ‘The Campaigner’

Enthusiastic, creative, and sociable free spirits who always find a reason to smile.

If Prossecco was a person, it would be you. A glass of this Italian sparkling will bring out that bubbly personality of yours. Prosecco is made using the tank method, so while it has less complex flavor notes, it’s known for a more fruit-forward profile and tends to be a little sweeter than Champagne or Cava. More reasons to smile, if you ask us.

ISTJ or ‘The Logistician’

Practical, fact-minded individuals whose reliability cannot be doubted.

You should reach for a glass of Chardonnay, a tried and true white wine that will never fail you. One of the world’s most grown grapes, Chardonnay is that good old reliable that never lets you down.

ISFJ or ‘The Defender’

Dedicated, warm protectors who are always ready to defend their loved ones.

Despite what others may think, you should grab a bottle of Merlot. In the 1990’s Merlot was criticized in the movie Sideways and it greatly impacted the wine’s public perception. In reality, Merlot is widely loved for its black cherry flavors and warm, chocolatey finish. ISFJ, you fight for what you believe in, and that’s another glass of Merlot.

ESTJ or ‘The Executive’

Excellent administrators and who succeed at managing things or people.

As the leader of the group, you relate most to Cabernet Franc, a complex red wine with aromas of raspberry, bramble, and bell pepper. Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, so it has some authority in the wine world. Enjoy another glass of one of the three, Head Honcho.

ESFJ or ‘The Consul’

Extraordinarily caring, social, and popular people who are always eager to help.

You’re sweet like Moscato, and everyone around you knows it. This low ABV white is the wine that keeps on giving - because of its relatively low alcohol content, you can feel free to enjoy another glass!

We’re well aware that Moscato can be a bit polarizing (either you’re a Moscato drinker, or you’re not), so we’ll also recommend a glass of Pinot Grigio, a zesty white wine that plays well with others and pairs well with most.

ESTP or ‘The Entrepreneur’

Smart, energetic and very perceptive people who enjoy living on the edge.

Pop that Champagne, ESTP! You’re the life of the party, whether you know it or not. Plus, you’re action oriented, so you’ll be the first person who volunteers to pop the bubbly.

Wine Personality Type Petite Sirah

Bright Cellars Nihilist Petite Sirah

ISTP or ‘The Virtuoso’

Bold and practical experimenters who have a mastery of all kinds of tools.

We’ve got just the wine for someone who’s bold, welcomes adventure, and loves the idea of trying something new, but always has a go-to wine in their back pocket. Reach for a glass of Petite Sirah - a full-bodied red wine with notes of blueberry, dark chocolate, and black tea and high tannins.

Give our Nihilist Petite Sirah a try! With bold fruit flavors of elderberry, blackcurrant, black cherry alongside sweet vanilla and clove, this full-bodied red is nothing short of bold.

ISFP or ‘The Adventurer’

Flexible, charming artists who are always ready to explore and experience something new.

For that creative, artistic mind that loves to go with the flow, we recommend Chenin Blanc. It’s exciting and unexpected, but pleasantly light and sweet like honey. Or, like you.

ESFP or ‘The Entertainer’

Spontaneous, energetic, and enthusiastic people who never let life get boring.

You, dear friend, should get yourself a bottle of Lambrusco. This fizzy red wine is like a classic sparkling wine, but with some added flair. Much like life, you take the classic bubbly to a whole new level of excitement.

INTJ or ‘The Architect’

Imaginative and strategic thinkers who always have a plan for everything.

INTJs, your perfect match is Riesling. When the spice of life throws some heat your way, you’re cool, calm, collected, and always ready to pivot.

This aromatic white wine showcases notes of lime, green apple, and beeswax, and can be produced in a variety of styles from dry to sweet. It’s the perfect pairing for spicy food (or in your case, sticky situations!)

INTP or ‘The Logician’

Innovative inventors with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Your perfect match is a glass of Grüner Veltliner - a lean, herbaceous, and peppery white wine with mouth-watering acidity that will cleanse your palate between bites and leave you wanting another sip. You’ll love the Austrian history behind this white wine, plus, you’ll consider the pronunciation a welcome challenge (and will probably go down an umlaut rabbit hole.)

ENTJ or ‘The Commander’

Bold, imaginative and strong-willed leaders who always find a way – or make one.

Your perfect match is a glass of Gewürztraminer, an intense white wine with high alcohol content, striking aromas of lychee, and low acidity. Some call it the “grown-up version of Moscato” since it’s far from easy sipping. For those who accept the challenge, the reward is a complex tasting experience with notes of ruby red grapefruit, rose petal, ginger, or smoke.

ENTP or ‘The Debater’

Smart, curious thinkers who cannot resist an intellectual challenge.

Try Sauvignon Blanc on for size. This lively white wine will complement your zest for curiosity, plus your mind will be blown by Sauv Blanc’s green streak - an herbaceous flavor that can taste like grass or green pepper.

Wine Personality Type Sauvignon Blanc

Bright Cellars Watchkeeper Sauvignon Blanc

We recommend a glass of our Watchkeeper Sauvignon Blanc. This white wine has flavor notes of lemon, green apple, grapefruit, and lemongrass.
