We’re just as guilty as the next person for checking up on our horoscope sign every now and then. Who doesn’t want to hear that the stars have finally aligned and their dream vacay is right around the corner? Horoscopes say a lot about who you are (not to mention some of them can be freakishly accurate), so you should pick a wine to drink that represents you just as flawlessly. Here’s how you can use your horoscope to pick the best wine for you.

Aries (March 21 to April 20) – Petite Sirah

You’re adventurous, bold and confident. You were the first to try the sardines on your study abroad trip to Portugal, and are always the first in your group of friends to suggest your next crazy adventure. To handle that audacious personality you are definitely in need of a bold wine. Try a Petite Sirah the next time you’re looking for the perfect bottle to pair with dinner or a night in. Don’t let the “petite” part fool you - this is not a small wine. It received its name from the small size of the grapes that are used to make this powerful vino. These little grapes work wonders, creating massive, intense flavors that are perfect for your personality. Want to add a little extra mystery in your life? Try the Obscura Petite Sirah for a surprise your taste buds will love!

Taurus (April 21 to May 21) – Riesling

You are the ultimate sweetheart. You’re reliable, warm-hearted, and incredibly loving. You bring homemade cookies (grandma’s secret recipe) to all the new neighbors on the block, and always tie a festive bandana around your dog’s neck for the holidays. You deserve a wine that’s just as sweet as you, and that is definitely a Riesling. So the next time you’re baking those delicious treats, pour yourself a big ol’ glass and enjoy!

Gemini (May 22 to June 21) – Merlot

You’re energetic, witty, and all about versatility. You adapt to any social situation that comes your way. Can your bridesmaids really cut their dresses short and wear them again? Probably not, but you’ve sure as hell mastered turning your work outfit into the perfect look for happy hour. With your adaptability, you need to get yourself a wine that can do the same. A Merlot is well-loved among the wine community and a definite go-to wine. It’s a simple classic that’s great for just about any situation. Next time you’re at the store, grab a few bottles to stock up so you have a great wine for any occasion.

Cancer (June 22 to July 22) – Pinot Noir

Cancer, you go together with Pinot Noir like PB and J. You are passionate, loving and protective – a perfect match for one of the most romantic wine varietals out there. Pinot Noir grapes are notoriously difficult to grow, as they are sensitive to even the smallest changes in their environment, just as Cancers have very perceptive personalities. Similar to your personality, if you give Pinot Noir grapes the love they need to flourish, they will love you back by producing wines that are elegant and delicious. All anyone really needs is a little love and support, right?

Leo (July 23 to August 21) – Chardonnay

A Leo as the star of the show? Not surprising. You love being in the spotlight, you’re crazy creative and a reliable, loyal friend. We get it, you starred in your summer camp production of Aladdin in the ninth grade and were nominated as prom queen senior year. Looking for a wine that’s as famous as you dream to be? Easy. A Chardonnay is a Leo’s best friend. Chardonnay is one of the most popular white wines in the world. Its popularity has led to an incredibly loyal group of wine fans that exclusively drink Chardonnay. Next time you’re out at dinner enjoying good company, give Chardonnay a try.

Virgo (August 22 to September 23) – Pinot Grigio

You are all about the calm and are happy to sit back and let others embrace the storm. Your friends describe you as being shy and wayyy too modest when it comes to your intelligence and work ethic. You would much rather sit back with a good book and a glass of wine in the comfort of your own home than mix with the masses. But the next time you’re at a work mixer or out to dinner with your significant other’s parents, don’t let selecting a wine stress you out. Try ordering a glass of Pinot Grigio. It’s mild, pairs well with just about anything and is definitely a safe choice.

Libra (September 24 to October 23) – Rosé

You’re diplomatic, charming, and you love to maintain harmony with friends and family. You’re a bit of a people pleaser, and as a result, you can never say “no.” This has led you to some incredible adventures, as well as a few unpleasant afternoons moving your friend’s old refrigerator in the pouring rain. Your biggest downfall? You are crazy indecisive! Milk or dark chocolate? Apples or oranges? Crunchy or smooth peanut butter? And when it comes to wine, the options are endless. Even though those big wine lists can be daunting, don’t let them intimidate you. Ever sat down to a big wine list at a fancy restaurant and experienced déjà vu from your nightmare the week before? Most people would say the first step is simple – red or white? But for you, even those options are way too much pressure. The solution? It’s simple. Rosé.

Scorpio (October 24 to November 22) – Moscato

You’re determined, passionate, exciting, and as my mother would say, you’re fierce. You definitely don’t shy away from confrontation, and you’re not afraid to tell it like you see it. Since you love debate and controversy, try a wine that’s just as controversial. Moscato is one of the most polarizing wines out there. While some love its sweet flavors, others can’t stand the sugary taste. Try a glass with your favorite spicy Thai dish to contrast its sweetness.

Sagittarius (November 23 to December 22) – Red Zinfandel

While most catch the travel bug after their first family vacation or their semester abroad, a Sagittarius is born with it. You are curious, optimistic and free-loving. You most likely have your next five trips planned and are (im)patiently waiting for your vacation days and bank account to line up enough to take the plunge. Your glass is always half full and your positivity will guarantee you have an incredible experience wherever your next adventure takes you. The question is, what should you fill that glass with? A Red Zinfandel will pair perfectly with your next trip. Red Zinfandels have one of the highest alcohol contents of all wines (usually 14% - 17% ABV). Its high acidity and alcohol content cause an oily texture, creating a bigger and bolder wine. Pro tip – it pairs great with Indian cuisine so you might want to consider adding India to your wishlist!

Capricorn (December 23 to January 20) – Cabernet Sauvignon

You are ambitious, helpful and determined. You like to think that your life motto is work hard, play hard. But more often than not, you find that you work so hard that there’s hardly any time left at the end of the day to do what you want. You are practical and incredibly disciplined, which usually means you skip that second glass of wine during the work week. You need a wine as classy as you are, and Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect choice. Some may say it’s a little pretentious, but we say it pairs perfectly with a moment of peace after a long day of work.

Aquarius (January 21 - February 19) – Red Blend

Oprah Winfrey is an Aquarius, which pretty much says it all. You are friendly, loyal, independent and a bit unconventional. You get bored easily and you’re always looking for new and exciting ways to do things. You’re the mom that rollerblades around the neighborhood because it’s more fun than power walking. You are constantly experimenting with new recipes and spices because unlike most, there is no way you’re rotating between the same 10 meals for the next year of your life. Why stop experimenting there? You deserve a wine that likes to switch it up as much as you do. Pair your next extravagant meal with a red blend. Red blends are created when winemakers blend grapes to design something new. This allows them to decrease the tannins, increase the body, or find the perfect combination of acidity and sweetness.

Pisces (February 20 to March 20) – Malbec

You’re creative, compassionate and intuitive. Whenever a friend is in need of relationship advice or support, you’re their go to. People feel comfortable with you because they know you’ll never judge them, and will most likely join them and add fuel to the fire of their rant. The dark, inky purple shade of Malbec is a perfect match for your deep thoughts. Malbec offers dark berry, chocolate, and earthy flavors and aromas. Next time you're sitting on your porch with the stars and your profound thoughts, add a glass of Malbec.
